One ear in front of the other???

Ana´s translation sounded convincing, but apart from "he hasn´t got a good ear for music" or "he´s tone deaf" I don´t know whether there´s another common expression. While I was driving home, the expression " as deaf as a post" sprang to mind, but that´s for hearing (or lack of it) in general. How about "he gave me an earful"; what do you think it means? I´m sorry to say that I won' t be able to continue doing the course or the immersion course at the weekend as I won' t be able to end all the course's hours. The woman whom I substitute comes back to high school next week. I don´t know where I will be then.

A FUNNY HALLOWEEN NIGHT?

Thay can still remember perfectly the night of 31st October of 2005. Mark and his friends went to spend the night to a beautiful but mysterious country house. Their plans were to have a Halloween party. Everybody wore scary costumes and they looked very happy in that house full of frightening decorations.It was really a great party, it had been worth spending so much time to prepare everything for that special night.Ten friends were going to meet there for an unforgettable Halloween night. They were dancing and having some drinks in the living room when a girl started to cry and to ask for help, she had seen something that did not seem to her a Halloween decoration. It was a knife full of blood,it was in the kitchen. But nobody cared about her, people laughed at her, they thought she had drunk too much wine.The girl went out of the house as soon as she could in order to get into her car and drive home. However, when she was downstairs, she saw the knife full of blood again,but this time,a mysterious man had the knife in his hand and he was running towards her calling her name with a strange voice: "Susan, Susan!", he said. The girl was so frightened that she ran upstairs again and entered the room asking people for help. Now the rest of her friends could see the man holding the knife, they stopped dancing and looked at him with terror and panic in their eyes. The man went nearer and nearer, he went towards the table where there were a lot of, different drinks. Then he took a glass and filled it with some wine still with the knife in his right hand. People didn't know what to do, they couldn't go out of the room as he was near the door and they didn't have enough courage to try to hit him.They were only some young people trying to have some fun on a Halloween night.At last, Mark jumped towards him, he wanted to take the knife away from him. But when the man saw him jumping towards him, he said: "Hi, Mark, this is a great party, sorry for being late,my car stopped in the road and I have come on foot, I think I've got a caugh,it' s so cold tonight. Well, I was thirsty, I went to the kitchen and I didn't find anything to drink. I saw Jane downstairs, I called her, but she ran and ran,she seemed crazy, what has she been drinking? Then,I followed her and here you were, it's incredible the way you have acted when I have entered the room. Oh! it's a perfect Halloween night". People couldn't believe it, the man was just one of his friends,Martin, he looked so scary dressed in that costume, with that horrible mask and with that knife......They finally greeted him and laughed until Mark said "We are 10 in the group, so if he is Martin, there is someone among us who isn't our friend!!Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Once upon a time there was a horrible story which everyone knew about the castle of the city....Everybody knew that about twenty years before a car accident was produced by a man who was completely drunk.A couple hav died ..Then some years later everybody who passed through this place could see horrible sights at the place I was also said that the man which produced this accident died at the same place in stranges circonstances.Nowdays this road has being closed to public transist and nobody could go at night....

We agree completely with Macarena. We must take some advantages from oral communication in class, with the possibility of being corrected. We will get fluency and a better pronounciation.

First of all, I think that the most important thing for me is to improve my pronunciation and fluency in English as well as my listening skills. I would like to know some cultural aspects and expressions too. I also hope to correct some grammatical mistakes in speaking and writing.

An epic war poem for Russell

Here comes The conqueror with his shield,
figthing the enemy with sharp arrows and spears,
he wins all the battles in foreign fields,
no warrior defeats him as nothing he fears.
Through valleys and mountains in the battle
warfare day and night to found his kingdom
he finally builds his deserved castle
full of happiness, effort and wisdom.

A long time ago in a remote village in Britain, in the south east,
there was a brave and handsome man who could fight against any beast,
he was known as "Swordman", because any battle he was engaged in,
it was won, as he could achieve everything he believed in.
People thought that he was more than a courageous knight,
and many children were told stories about him at night.
Everyone admired and loved this man,
the one who was called "Swordman".
But one day something tragic happened to him,
a dragon and its army tried to end with him.
Dragons wanted to be the most powerful in the island,
they had just devastated the North of Ireland.
They destroyed everything with fire,
as they flew higher and higher.
"Swordman" and his knights were defeated,

Hi, everybody! Just to ask you to spend a few minutes to think about the Spanish educational system before we talk about it in class. As usual, we´ll use group work to create a kind of project about education in Spain (or abroad, if you like).
